Children's Health and Development
Health Insite - an Australian Government Initiative.
Parenting and Child Health - Child and Youth Health promotes the
health, well-being and development of children, young people and
families.
Healthy
Kids - Good food habits and daily physical activity – if your child has these, they're well on the way to
a healthy life. But achieving this isn't always so simple. This website
shows you how to do it and links you to many other sites on this
important topic.
Westmead Children’s
Hospital - An extremely diverse team of individuals - blended
together to deliver a level of support and care for children that is
second to none.
Better Health Channel - The Better Health Channel (BHC) was
established in May 1999 by the Victorian (Australia) Government. The
information on the site aims to help improve the health and wellbeing of
the Victorian community.
The Cancer
Council - Our services have been developed with the help of
experienced health professionals from our Cancer Council Helpline,
people with cancer and some of NSW's top cancer experts. No matter who
you are, where you live, or the issues you're facing, we can help with
services that are free, confidential and accessible from anywhere in
NSW.
SIDS and Kids
- SIDS and Kids - Dedicated to saving babies lives through the elimination of sudden and unexpected infant deaths and
supporting bereaved families.
Sydney
Children’s Hospital Randwick - The Sydney Children's Hospital,
Randwick, in collaboration with the Children's Hospital at Westmead, has
produced reader friendly health and safety information for parents.
These factsheets give clear and practical information to parents. The
factsheet review process will ensure that the information being given is
consistent with approved medical practice and belief.
Australian Breastfeeding Association - The Australian Breastfeeding
Association (ABA) is an organisation of people interested in the
promotion and protection of breastfeeding. Amongst these are
breastfeeding women and their partners and health professionals such as
doctors, lactation consultants and midwives. ABA was founded in
Melbourne, Victoria in 1964 (as the Nursing Mothers' Association), with
the primary aim of giving mother-to-mother support to breastfeeding
women.
Beyond Blue
- Adjusting to life as a mother can be difficult.
In fact, for many women, having a baby is the most significant
life-changing event they will ever experience. Adjusting to this major
life change, as well as coping with the day-to-day stress of a new baby,
can make some women more likely to experience depression at this time,
particularly if they've experienced depression in the past.
Safety
Road and
Traffic Authority - The RTA is the NSW State Government agency
responsible for improving road safety, testing and licensing drivers and
registering and inspecting vehicles, managing the road network to
achieve consistent travel times.
Kids and Cars
- Kids and Cars mission is to assure no child dies or is injured in a non-traffic, motor
vehicle related event.
Farmsafe Australia Inc - The mission or role of Farmsafe Australia
has been defined as To lead and coordinate national efforts to enhance
the well-being and productivity of Australian Agriculture through
improved health and safety awareness and practices. Farmsafe Australia
is interested in protecting the health and safety of farmers, workers,
family members and visitors to farms.
Safety Centre - Since 1979 the Safety Centre's mission has been to
reduce injury mortality and morbidity by supporting communities to
improve health, safety and wellbeing. The Centre's objective is to
continue to be a leader in the provision of quality child safety
promotion services that meet the needs of all.
Child Safety on the Internet - The Internet was never designed to be
a safe place for minors, however it presents an unparalleled medium for
education. This means that steps must be taken by adults in order to
make the Internet a safe medium for children to use.
Kidsafe
Australia - Kidsafe is the leading non-government, not-for-profit
charitable organisation, dedicated to preventing unintentional childhood
injuries and reducing the resulting deaths and disabilities associated
with childhood accidents in children under the age of 15 years.
St John's
Ambulance - St John Ambulance Australia is a self-funding charitable
organisation active in all States and Territories, dedicated to helping
people in sickness, distress, suffering or danger. St John is
Australia's largest first aid trainer, teaching practical life-saving
skills to around a quarter of a million people each year.
Royal Life
Saving - Information for parents and carers about safety when
swimming and around the water.
Child Care Information
National Child
Care Accreditation Council - NCAC's vision is quality child care
experiences for all children enrolled in child care services in
Australia. Our mission is to work in partnership with families,
services, government and other key stakeholders to facilitate and
support continuous improvement to the quality of child care provided for
children in Australia.
Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs - FaCSIA helps families to participate in the
social and economic life of the community through the provision of support for child care services.
Family Assistance Office, Child Care Benefit - The Family Assistance
Office is a joint venture between four government agencies – the
Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, the
Australian Taxation Office, Centrelink and Medicare Australia. It has
been set up to give Australian families better access to government
services. Instead of going to different agencies to get family
assistance, families are able to get all their payments from just one
place – the Family Assistance Office.
DoCS - In NSW, DoCS licenses, monitors and funds services for
children from birth until start of formal schooling.
Staying Healthy in Child Care - Staying Healthy in Child Care
describes simple but effective methods for minimising the spread of
infections for many common childhood diseases which are encountered in
child care and the home.
Family Day Care Australia - Family Day Care Australia (FDCA)
(formerly the National Family Day Care Council of Australia – NFDCCA) is
family day care’s national peak organisation. We are here to support,
enhance and resource family day care services, whilst leading the way
for family day care in the Australian childcare industry. We work on
behalf of the family day care community – carers, coordination unit
staff, families and operators/sponsors – to ensure the strength and
continued growth of family day care in Australia.
Play
group Australia - Playgroup Australia is a not-for-profit
organisation reliant on community and member organisation support. All
funds raised by or on behalf of the organisation are re-invested through
its own activities or that of its member organisations into the
development and promotion of playgroup activities across Australia.

Early
Childhood Intervention Australia - Early Childhood Intervention
Australia (ECIA) provides a national focus and forum, promotes the
public profile of Early Childhood Intervention, facilitates effective
liaison and advocacy in the community, and fosters quality information
and service provision. Services include organisation of seminars and
workshops and a national conference every two years.
Association for Children With A Disability - We are a non-profit
organisation run by parents, so we know what it means to have a child
with a disability. We work in close co-operation with a network of
Regional Parent Support Workers and various statewide and national
disability support groups.
Disability Online - Each person's experience of disability is
different. Experiences are influenced by what happens in your life, your
access to information, services, opportunities, the environment where
you live, and the attitudes of people in your community.
Royal Institute
for Deaf and Blind Children - One of Australia’s major charities,
the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children (RIDBC) is also
Australia’s premier special educator. RIDBC’s primary purpose is to
provide high quality educational services to children who have
significant hearing and/or vision impairment, including children who
have additional disabilities.
Deaf Children Australia - Deaf Children Australia provides
information, advocacy, support services and educational resources that
respond to the needs of these children and their families.
Autism Spectrum
Australia - Aspect provides information, education and other
services through partnerships with people with autism spectrum
disorders, their families and communities.

The Starlight
Foundation - Our mission is to brighten the lives of all seriously
ill and hospitalised children and their families, throughout Australia.
Our hospital programs include Starlight Express Rooms, Starlight Fun
Centres and Starlight Express Vans - geared to deliver fun and
entertainment to hospitalised children around the country.
World Vision Australia - World Vision is Australia’s largest
overseas aid and humanitarian organisation. As well as providing relief
in emergency situations, we work on long-term development projects with
local communities to address the causes of poverty and help them become
self-sufficient.
Ronald McDonald House - Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is an
independent, non-profit organisation, that seeks to help seriously ill
children and their families lead happier, healthier lives.
Camp
Quality - Camp Quality is a non profit organisation that is
committed to bringing hope and happiness to every child living with
cancer, their families and communities through ongoing quality
recreational, educational, hospital and financial support programs.
Barnardo's - Barnardos is Australia’s leading child welfare agency.
Through a diverse range of integrated welfare programs and services
Barnardos is committed to helping protect the lives of thousands of
Australian children and young people who suffer the traumas of neglect
and abuse and the humiliation of poverty and homelessness. Most of these
children are innocent victims of desperate and dire situations.
Jeans 4
Genes Day - The first Friday in August is Jeans for Genes Day, the
day you get to wear jeans to work for a great cause: finding cures for
children’s diseases. Jeans for Genes Day is a Fundraising day for the
Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI).
